Path / File Access error, or File not found

Description:

This error message appears when you select a name from the user list and then click OK to load the main program. The Path / File access error occurs mainly in the network version, wehere file access rights are usually the cause.

Analysis:

Path / File access errors most commonly occur when the network version of the program attempts to copy to or write to a protected area of the server, where the user does not have the correct access rights. File Not Found errors are usually cause when the CD version is run without the CD in the drive.

Solution:

File Not Found errors with the CD version of the product are usually fixed by inserting the CD before running the program. If the CD is in the drive and you still get the error message, read on.

We have a diagnostic program which you can download and run from your typing tutor directory. It will report on the paths and files which Fingers expects to find, and will help you to locate the cause of the error message.

Step 1: Download the Utility
Click here to download the utility program DIAGNOSE.EXE (12k). When you are prompted, select "Save to disk" from the box which appears and save the file in the directory in which you installed the typing program.

Step 2: Run the Utility
• Open Windows Explorer (My Computer);
• Open the folder in which you installed the typing program
• Double-click on the DIAGNOSE program
(This should be in the same folder as files such as FROG.EXE, PART3.EXE and REPORTS.EXE)
• The program will report the result of the diagnostic tests.

If the report does not give you a clue as to how to solve the problem, click the button to copy the report into Clipboard, and then paste it into an email for us so that we can help you
