This error mainly occurs in the Windows 95 operating system, and is caused when a user file is created which does not contain a user name. When you load the Sign-On screen, all user files are opened and the names are entered into the user list, including the empty one. When you then click on a user name or button, an error is generated because a match is found between the empty user file and the empty Name box on screen, two 'blank' names, and you aren't allowed to have two identical names in the user list, hence the error 'A user with this name already exists'.

There isn't a permanent fix for this problem at the moment, but you can download a small utility which will hunt out the offending user file and remove it from your system, which will then cure the problem. Follow the instructions below
Step 1: Download the Utility Click here to download the utility program FIX_USER.EXE (10k). When you are prompted, select "Save to disk" from the box which appears and save the file in the directory in which you installed the typing program.
Step 2: Run the Utility • Open Windows Explorer (My Computer) • Open the folder in which you installed the typing program • Double-click on the FIX_USER program (This should be in the same folder as files such as FROG.EXE, PART3.EXE and REPORTS.EXE) • The program will report the result of its search.
